Barton is a partner with significant experience practising in corporate and commercial law. He advises a number of local and multinational clients and has experience in a wide range of sectors including heavy industrial, logistics, healthcare and tourism.
His expertise includes providing corporate governance and structuring advice, managing complex local and cross-border transaction processes as well as negotiating and preparing principal agreements for mergers, acquisitions, disposals, private placements and joint ventures.

He spent five years at Dickson Minto W.S. in London working for some of the leading private equity firms in Europe and their portfolio companies. He has also worked at Chapman Tripp in New Zealand as well as in-house within the BlueScope Steel Group. He has a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Auckland, New Zealand. Barton was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in 1998, and as a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales in 2004.
