KLUWER LAW CONFERENCE FOR IN-HOUSE COUNSEL - DUBAI 5TH ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL ARBITRATION SUMMIT

This year's arbitration conference focusing on Dubai and the Middle East was held on 21 February 2017 at the Shangri-La Hotel in Dubai.
The conference was attended by arbitration practitioners and in-house counsel from across the Middle East region and globally, and was sponsored by Hadef & Partners.
Tom Montague-Smith QC of XXIV Old Buildings, London chaired the conference and started the proceedings with the Opening Address. Prof. Dr Tarek Fouad A. Riad, Chairman of the DIAC Executive Committee gave the Welcome Message for the Dubai International Arbitration Centre. This was followed by Michael Black QC of XXIV Old Buildings giving the 1st Key Note speech on "Recent Developments Affecting Arbitration in the MENA Region".
In the afternoon the 2nd Keynote Speaker was Mark Beer, OBE, Chief Executive and Registrar of the DIFC Courts who spoke on "The Future of International Dispute Resolution Centres: The Garfield Principle".
Melissa Quai Currie, Partner from Hadef & Partners spoke at the conference and delivered a presentation on "Winning Your Case in Arbitration – Practical Tips".
The conference was well attended and tackled some current issues affecting arbitration in the UAE.
