HADEF & PARTNERS’ OMAR AL HELOO VOTED YOUNG LAWYER OF THE YEAR

Leading UAE law firm, Hadef & Partners’ partner Omar Al Heloo has been voted Young Lawyer of the Year by an audience of 570 legal peers at the third annual DIFC Court Users Committee Lawyers Gala Dinner in aid of the Courts’ Pro Bono Programme and Clinic.

Sadiq Jafar said “The committee put on a fabulous evening.  It was a great way to support the activity of the DIFC Pro-Bono Clinic and of course we were thrilled for one of our young partners to be rewarded with such an accolade. What makes it especially gratifying is that he was voted for by his peers.”

Omar Al Heloo said “Thank you to all the lawyers who voted for me. I would like to thank the senior partners of Hadef & Partners for their commitment to the development of young lawyers and the legal profession in the UAE.”

The now annual gala dinner has become a unique event in the Dubai legal calendar bringing together lawyers from in-house and private practice to raise awareness of the DIFC Pro Bono Programme and raise funds for its Clinic initiative.

DIFC Courts implemented the Middle East’s first Pro Bono Programme in 2009 to much applause. The Pro Bono Programme is designed to ensure that professional legal advice is available to anyone who can demonstrate that they are unable to afford legal representation. The Courts continue to refine and develop the Programme and in 2012 launched a Pro Bono Clinic where potential litigants are able to make appointments to meet with volunteer lawyers for legal advice on matters that are DIFC-related. They offer potential pro bono litigants one-to-one quality time, in confidence, with legally qualified practitioners.
