Matthew is a Senior Legal Consultant in the Dispute Resolution team in Dubai. He specialises in international arbitration and litigation and is experienced in advising on disputes in respect of a range of industry sectors, including energy, oil and gas, natural resources, mining, telecommunications, construction, real estate, and shareholder disputes, relating to jurisdictions in the Middle East, Russia/CIS, Europe, Asia and Africa.

Matthew has extensive experience in both commercial and investment arbitration, including under the auspices of the LCIA, ICC, DIAC, ICSID and UNCITRAL Rules. He also acts in cross-jurisdictional litigation cases, obtaining freezing orders, injunctions, and enforcement of judgments and awards worldwide.

Matthew advises global companies on a range of private and public international law issues, as well as those related to investment strategies for the protection of foreign investments under bilateral and multilateral investment treaties. He also acts as advocate in international arbitration proceedings.

Prior to joining Hadef & Partners, Matthew obtained an M.A. Hons in History and Law from the University of Cambridge (Downing College) and went on to work for major international law firms including Herbert Smith LLP. Matthew is a Solicitor-Advocate qualified in England & Wales. He speaks English and French.
